James G. Munger and Associates, Incorporated was formed in 1985 to provide consulting services in the areas of fire protection; building, fire, and safety codes; and fire loss analysis to a wide variety of clients including insurance carriers, law firms, architects, engineers, contractors, building owners, and governmental entities.

Fire protection and code consulting services include the application and interpretation of the model building and fire codes (Standard, Uniform, BOCA and International), the Codes and Standards of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the Americans with Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG), OSHA workplace safety regulations, ANSI, ASTM, API, HUD manufactured housing standards, and HUD public housing regulations, the development and evaluation of code equivalency concepts; the analysis and protection of unique or special hazards, the survey of buildings to determine their compliance with applicable codes and their fire protection, life safety and accessibility needs/requirements; and examination of fire suppression and detection systems (smoke alarms, smoke detectors, fire alarms, automatic sprinklers, kitchen fire protection systems, etc) to determine their compliance with applicable codes and standards and functional/operational status.

Fire loss analysis services include the examination of the incident scene and any involved equipment, collection of evidence, determination of origin and cause, evaluation of prior investigations and assistance in case preparation. An analysis of an incident can also be provided to identify any violations of applicable building and fire codes that caused or contributed to an incident and/or adequacy of the design, installation, maintenance and operation of automatic sprinklers, fire alarm and detection systems, and smoke detectors.

Firm has the capability of providing a computer analysis of a fire scenario utilizing programs developed by the National Institute of Science and Technology.
